Sell Uniforms — Purchase of Original Uniforms and Insignia

An old uniform in the wardrobe is hard for a layperson to place: is it original, has it been re-sewn, is it a theatrical reproduction?

If you would like to sell a uniform, we clarify exactly that — free of charge, based on photos sent via WhatsApp, with an answer within 24 hours. If the piece is original and of interest, we make an offer and pay immediately.

One thing upfront, because the market is full of them: We buy exclusively originals, no replicas. Reenactment reproductions, film costumes and re-tailored copies — no matter how well made — we do not buy. The authenticity check based on fabric, workmanship, buttons and stamps is part of our valuation, at no cost to you.

What we buy

Original uniforms and uniform parts from the period up to 1945:

  • Feldblusen (field tunics) and dress tunics of the Army, Luftwaffe (German Air Force) and Kriegsmarine (German Navy)
  • Headwear: peaked caps, field caps, garrison caps
  • Uniforms from the First World War and the Imperial era, including individual dress tunics
  • Insignia: shoulder boards, collar tabs, cuff titles, badges
  • Accessories connected to the wearer: belts, sword knots, pay books, photographs in uniform
  • Uniform Nachlässe (estates) that can be attributed to a named individual — for us the most interesting category
  • Unissued depot pieces in untouched condition

Condition plays a part, but not in the way most people think: a worn, uncleaned original piece with a maker's stamp is worth more than a "prettied-up" one, where insignia has been sewn on afterwards. So don't change anything before selling — don't wash it, don't remove anything, don't repair it.

What we do not buy: Replicas of any kind, Bundeswehr and NVA stock from after 1945, and heavily mouldy or moth-eaten textiles with no remaining substance.

Process: from photos to payment

  1. Take photos: the whole uniform from front and back, plus the lining, stamps and labels — that's where the truth about authenticity lies.
  2. Send via WhatsApp to +34 665 164 779. Within 24 hours you'll get our assessment: original or not, and what we will pay.
  3. Payment in cash, once we've agreed on a price. We collect entire uniform Nachlässe in person, anywhere in Germany.

We buy for our own collection — with no dealer mark-up. On the legal position: owning and selling original uniforms is legal, including those from the National Socialist era. § 86a of the German Criminal Code covers the public display of unconstitutional symbols; we therefore treat photographs of pieces bearing such symbolism discreetly and do not publish them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Wehrmacht uniforms banned? No. Owning, buying and selling original Wehrmacht (German armed forces) uniforms is legal in Germany. Only the public display of unconstitutional insignia is restricted (§ 86a StGB) — a private sale to us does not fall under that.

How do I know if my uniform is original? Reliable indicators are period-correct stamps in the lining, the way the buttonholes are made, and the material — but forgeries are getting better, and much can only be judged by comparison. Send us detailed photos; the check is free and without obligation.

What is an old uniform worth? The range is enormous: simple field caps from double-digit amounts, rare complete Feldblusen with a documented original owner in the four-figure range. Without photos, any figure would be unreliable — so we only give indicative values once we've seen them.

What is your piece worth?

You don't need to know what it is or have anything ready. One phone photo, exactly as the piece is, and we'll tell you what it is and what it is worth. Free and with no obligation.
