Where can I sell militaria in Hanover?
Hanover and Lower Saxony have antique dealers and auction houses that also take in militaria — usually as one category among many, not as a specialism. It is always worth comparing prices before selling, and that is exactly what we recommend.
Hanover sits at the junction of the A2 and A7 motorways, which is a practical advantage for you: we combine an appointment in the city with Celle, Hildesheim, Braunschweig or the surrounding area, with no detour. So an attic find anywhere in the region is no reason to post anything either.
Our offer differs from the traditional trade in one respect: we buy for our own collection — with no dealer's mark-up. A shop has to factor in its later resale margin when it buys. We don't have to, because we keep the pieces.
What we buy in Hanover
Historical pieces up to 1945: medals and decorations, uniforms, helmets, Blankwaffen (edged weapons) such as sabres and daggers, documents, photo albums, equipment — right up to military vehicles and motorcycles.
Hanover was the capital of its own kingdom until 1866, and only became a Prussian provincial capital afterwards. Nachlass estates from Lower Saxony therefore often contain Guelphic pieces — chiefly decorations of the Kingdom of Hanover such as the Guelphen-Orden (Order of the Guelphs) — alongside the Prussian orders of the period that followed. There is also the industrial heritage: in Hanover-Linden, Hanomag built locomotives, lorries and tractors; we are always glad to look at factory papers, photos and parts from this production.
What we do not buy: firearms and replicas. A significant share of what we're offered is reproduction — checking for originality is therefore always part of the valuation.
How the sale works
- Photos via WhatsApp to +34 665 164 779 — two minutes, no obligation.
- Free valuation within 24 hours — we tell you whether the pieces are original and what we'll pay.
- Cash payment, at the agreed price — handed over directly at the appointment in Hanover. For individual pieces sent by post, payment is by bank transfer immediately after inspection.
To be upfront: we are not based in Hanover
We are a Spanish collector's house based in Madrid, and we buy across the whole of Germany. Distance makes no difference to the valuation — it is done from your photos. For collections and extensive Nachlass estates, we travel to Hanover and complete the purchase at your home, discreetly and without you having to transport anything.
On the legal side: trading in original pieces from before 1945 is legal in Germany. The public display of certain symbols is restricted under § 86a StGB (Germany's Criminal Code) — which is why we treat photos containing such symbols in confidence and document the pieces strictly in private.
Frequently asked questions
What does the valuation cost?
Nothing. The WhatsApp valuation is free and non-binding — even if you decide afterwards not to sell.
Do I need to know what the pieces are worth?
No. Most enquiries come from heirs seeing the holdings for the first time. Just send photos of everything, including papers and photo albums — the value is often found where you'd least expect it.
Do you also buy complete Nachlass estates in Hanover?
Yes, especially those. For complete Nachlass estates we arrange an appointment in Hanover, view everything on site and, if you wish, pay in cash immediately.
