Sell Medals — Purchase of Historical Medals up to 1945

Military medals almost always turn up in a job lot: a cigar box from your grandfather, a few ribbons, and among them something no one in the family can identify.

Medals we buy

Our focus is on German medals up to 1945:

  • Ostmedaille (Eastern Front Medal, "Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42")
  • War Merit Medal and War Merit Cross
  • Westwall Medal, Anschluss medals (13 March 1938, 1 October 1938)
  • Long-service awards of the Army, Luftwaffe (German Air Force) and Kriegsmarine (German Navy)
  • Medals from the First World War and the Imperial era, including regional state decorations
  • Sports and shooting awards from the period, commemorative and regimental medals
  • Complete medal bars and field bars, ideally with certificates and photographs of the recipient

Individual common medals often fetch only small amounts — their value usually lies in the context: bar, certificate, photograph and award pouch together are far more interesting to us than a loose piece. So don't split up a lot before selling it. You'll find specific indicative values per medal in our value tables at /wert/; for your piece, we'll quote a price once we've seen the photos.

Not purchased: Replicas and re-strikes, club and sports medals with no military connection, and heavily damaged mass-produced pieces with no collector value.

Selling in three steps

  1. Photograph — front, back, ribbon. For bars, a photo of the whole group.
  2. Send via WhatsApp to +34 665 164 779. We reply within 24 hours with an authenticity assessment and an offer — free and without obligation.
  3. Sell and receive payment — in cash, at the agreed price. For extensive collections, we come and see you in person, anywhere in Germany.

If individual pieces bear symbols from the National Socialist era: buying and selling such originals is legal. § 86a of the German Criminal Code governs the public display of these symbols, which is why we treat corresponding photographs confidentially and do not display them publicly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are old medals worth? From a few euros for common mass-produced pieces to several hundred euros for rare awards in good condition — complete groups with certificates are worth more still. A reliable figure can only be given once we've seen the photos, and that assessment is free with us.

Do I need to know what the medals mean? No. Identifying them is our job. Just photograph everything that's there — ribbons, pouches and papers included. What looks unremarkable is sometimes the most valuable piece in the box.

Do you buy individual medals, or only whole collections? Both. For a single piece, WhatsApp and insured shipping are enough once you've accepted our offer — payment by bank transfer follows immediately after inspection. From collection size upward, we arrange an appointment at your location.

What is your piece worth?

You don't need to know what it is or have anything ready. One phone photo, exactly as the piece is, and we'll tell you what it is and what it is worth. Free and with no obligation.
