Anyone who "tidies it up" before selling, sands it down or repaints it, destroys exactly what collectors pay for. If you would like to sell a Stahlhelm (steel helmet): leave it as it is, send us photos via WhatsApp, and within 24 hours you'll have a free valuation with a concrete offer.
We buy for our own collection — with no dealer mark-up. That applies equally to a single barn find and to a whole row of helmets from a dispersed collector's household, anywhere in Germany.
Which helmets we buy
- Stahlhelme M35, M40 and M42 of the Army, Luftwaffe (German Air Force), Kriegsmarine (German Navy) and Police — with or without insignia (decals)
- Stahlhelme from the First World War: M16, M17, M18, including camouflage-painted examples
- Pickelhauben (spiked helmets) from the Imperial era, regional state variants and officers' pieces
- Paratrooper helmets and tropical helmets
- Liners, chin straps, camouflage nets and helmet covers — also sold individually
With a Stahlhelm, original paint, surviving insignia and the liner belonging to the helmet determine the price. The range is wide: an Army M35 with partially surviving original paint sold at auction for 250 €, a barn find with visible insignia achieved 650 €, and an example with a good eagle decal is offered in the trade for 1.400 € (indicative). A detailed overview by model and condition can be found in our value table: What is a Stahlhelm worth?
What we do not buy: Replicas and reenactment helmets, repainted pieces with new decals ("restored" here almost always means devalued), Bundeswehr and NVA helmets from after 1945.
How to sell your helmet
- Photograph it: from the outside at several angles, plus the inside and the stamps at the neck and side area of the shell — that's how we identify maker and size.
- Send them to +34 665 164 779 via WhatsApp. Within 24 hours we'll tell you what you have and what we will pay. Free, with no obligation to sell.
- Payment in cash, at the agreed price. Several helmets, or an entire collection? We'll come to you — throughout Germany.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Stahlhelme allowed? Yes. Owning, buying and selling original Stahlhelme is legal. For helmets with insignia from the National Socialist era, § 86a StGB governs only the public display of the symbols — which is why we document such pieces privately and treat the photographs discreetly.
Should I clean the helmet before selling it? No, absolutely not. Dust, barn patina and even rust are part of its substance; any cleaning can damage the original paint and insignia and reduce the value. Photograph it exactly as you found it.
What is my helmet worth if the insignia is missing? Even without a decal, an original helmet still has its market — surviving paint, model and a complete liner then count for even more. Send photos and we'll give you a reasoned price.
